The Ealing Carphone Warehouse store re-opens 16 months after IRA bomb

The Carphone Warehouse store in Ealing will officially re-open tomorrow, following a massive renovation project spanning 16 months, after it was demolished in the IRA bomb on 2nd August 2001. The store has been shut for restoration since the bomb, due to the extensive structural damage caused by the blast, which blew out the store’s windows and severely damaged the inside.
To mark the re-opening of the store, Giovanni van Bronckhorst the midfield maestro from Arsenal football club will be joining Marcus Learoyd, London Divisional Manager of The Carphone Warehouse UK. The official opening will take place on Wednesday 18th December at 3.15pm and Giovanni will be at the store until 4pm to talk to customers and fans, and to introduce the new O2 Arsenal phone mobile. This exciting handset is a special edition Arsenal Samsung T100, as supplied to the Arsenal players. It offers a wealth of extra features, including an animated Arsenal welcome message, three exclusive Arsenal polyphonic ringtones and five animated Arsenal wallpapers.
After a year working in different stores and departments within The Carphone Warehouse, four of the previous employees along with the store manager Barry Gilligan have returned to ensure the smooth running of the store.
The new improved store includes more floor space and upstairs offices. It also showcases the company’s new ‘Demo Ready’ service giving all customers the opportunity to test, trial and sample the latest technology on the market. This means that customers are able to ask any question about any handset or new technology and have a live, working demonstration in-store immediately.
Branch Manager Barry Gilligan said; “The team is very excited to be re-opening our Ealing store and we are looking forward to offering our customers the widest range of the latest handsets with independent advice and unbeatable service. We are also pleased to be able to offer all customers live demonstrations of the latest technology by using ‘Demo Ready’.”
